About Stephen's EMDR and Trauma-Focused Therapy

Stephen Duraney is the founder of Lumin Counseling and an experienced therapist whose work is trauma-focused and integrative. He blends evidence-based practices like EMDR with compassion and faith-informed understanding, helping clients transform pain into purpose and reclaim the light that trauma once dimmed.

Stephen has more than 10 years of experience in the mental health field across a variety of settings. He earned his Master’s degree from Seton Hall University and founded Lumin Counseling with a vision for care that is clinically grounded, deeply human, and attentive to the whole person: mind, body, and spirit.

He understands that finding the right therapist can feel overwhelming. His goal is to make that process easier by offering a warm, nonjudgmental environment where healing can begin.

Clinical Style

Stephen’s clinical style is warm, nonjudgmental, and collaborative. Each day, he is humbled by the courage clients show as they step into vulnerability and growth, and he seeks to offer a steady, compassionate space where resilience, faith, and healing can be explored with care.
